Liberia is bordered on the north by the Republic of Guinea in the east to Côte d’Ivoire and in the northwest of Sierra Leone. The Atlantic coast in the southwest is 560 km long and consists of over 50% of sandy beaches. In parallel to the coast will cover three different landscape areas.
The coast is through the shallow lagoons, numerous bays and mangrove swamps irrigated. Behind the land rises gradually to a dense jungle-covered plateau at (500-800 meters). The interior is mountainous, Mount Nimba (1752 m) and Mount Waulo (1400 m) are the highest elevations. About 50% of the population live in rural regions.
